CHAMPIONING RURAL WOMAN
Meet Mhairi Morriss, who is well known in Aberdeenshire and across Scotland for her boundless enthusiasm, entrepreneurial flair and her ability to bring people together from all walks of life.
An experienced events manager for major brands, Mhairi took the plunge and founded her own events business in 2014.
@Glad Rags and Cartridge Bags offers premium experiences including clay shooting and driven grouse days for women of all ages and abilities, in the most beautiful Scottish settings. The events have proved phenomenally successful and attract participants from all over the UK and on occasion from mainland Europe.
Mhairi says: “Glad Rags and Cartridge Bags’ aim was and still is to encourage more ladies into what is a predominantly male dominated sport to teach them how to shoot properly in a friendly, fun and relaxed atmosphere.”
The events generate revenue for the local economy too, as dozens of people often book overnight stays in local hotels and outside suppliers are contracted to provide instruction, catering and other relevant services.
Mhairi continued: “Rural communities benefit hugely from traditional county sports, including grouse shooting, and the impact for the rural economy is often overlooked. Grouse shooting isn’t just a benefit for the estates themselves, there is a huge boost for all the suppliers and tourism businesses in the surrounding region.”
Now about to celebrate its 7th birthday, Glad Rags has expanded the selection of experiences available, with the introduction of Glad Rags and Fishing Rods, Glad Rags and Dog Leads, Glad Rags and Floral Creations and Glad Rags and Gardening Gloves.
We wish Mhairi continued success.
